Crop Protection Programme

The key objective of this programmes is to minimise the effects of pests diseases and weeds on crop production. It achieves this by: Promoting biosecurity by ensuring that varieties released into the industry or imported through quarantine are free of disease.

Early identification of potential threats to the industry, posed by existing or exotic pests and diseases, and by the development of proactive counter-measures Developing integrated management strategies that limit the negative effects of pests, pathogens, weeds and detrimental soil micro-organisms on crop yield, optimal cycle length and ratoonability.
