Communications, Publications and Public Relations

The Communications, Publications and Public Relations (CPPR) department, within the Division of External Affairs, strives to continuously enhance, highlight and profile the image and reputation of the industry amongst its relevant external stakeholders and audiences. In particular the media and government, through the implementation of a communication plan, ensuring the accurate dissemination of information pertaining to the industry.

Communicating relevant information to internal and external audiences and acting as a professional liaison between these publics, whose collective views constitute public opinion, are also key elements of developing and maintaining a positive image of the industry.

The South African Sugar Terminal Tour Centre

The CPPR Department also oversees the efficient running of the South African Sugar Terminal Tour Centre based at Maydon Wharf. Staffed by two fully trained tour guides the Tour Centre operates four guided tours of the South African Sugar Terminal daily.

The core function of the Tour Centre is to educate the South African public on the process of turning sugarcane into sugar crystals. The Tour Centre also enlightens the public about the structure of the South African sugar industry and the context within which it operates.
