About us
Autolab, a department within the Finance Division of the South African Sugar Association (SASA), provides expert support and development of the Sugar Industry Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) utilised by all sugar mills within South Africa. LIMS is designed to manage growers' estimates and allocations, and provides the source data for determining payments for sugar deliveries by growers. Autolab also develops and maintains the systems that track sugarcane through the milling process for the purpose of sampling and testing by the mills and Cane Testing Service (CTS) laboratories.
Based in Mount Edgecombe (KZN), Autolab’s development team build products for the exchange and management of geographical and technical information. The internationally recognised LIMS package we use allows for development in C# to deliver first rate software products to customers across many locations. As a small specialist department, we pride ourselves in being able to couple technical excellence in software engineering with a strong understanding of our customer’s needs.
The role
As a Senior Software Developer, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of development from design and implementation, to testing enhancements for our software products. You’ll learn from our experienced team of developers, you’ll get to take part in leading edge projects across the industry and you can expect to get your hands dirty from day one. Uniquely, you’ll also have exposure to the commercial arm of the business so you’ll be able to understand the customer needs and see the results of your software development.

About you
You will be a highly motivated individual, able to work effectively within a team, in a dynamic and challenging business environment. You will have:
• A degree or higher qualification containing a significant element of programming
• Experience of C# and ASP.NET.
• Experience with Oracle databases and development tool.
• Comprehensive knowledge of software engineering practices such as object orientation.
